Sha-Kon-O-Hey Review - 18/05/2009 |
| |
|
This 9 track CD, released to promote the Great Smoky Mountains
and theres a very traditional country sounding feel to it,
encompassing all the themes of living in this area. The two
standout tracks, My Mountains, My Home and Forever Home give
the listener a flavour of what the Smokies mean to Dolly and
they certainly do the job of promoting East Tennessee.
The other 6 tracks are nothing special, there are a couple of
hoedown numbers in Hey Howdy Hey and Good Time and another
couple about work, namely Time Flies and Working on a Dream.
The title track Sha-Kon-O-Hey sounds like a native Indian
chant, make of that what you will. Heart of the Smokies is
nice enough, but even after 5 plays its not something i’m
likely to remember tomorrow.
The CD is a nice little memento for visitors to Dollywood and
the Great Smoky Mountains and for Dolly fans there are a few
gems on there to appreciate, but as a comparison to Dolly’s
last benefit CD, Precious Memories, which was a Dollywood only
release, this really isn’t in the same class.
This CD has been released to benefit the Friends of the
Smokies organisation and is being sold at Dollywood and
on-line via the following link:
